This is part of the Malaysian Constitution on the topic of "Freedom Of Speech". Its stated that every Malaysian citizen has the rights to speak up for themselves, group peaefully, and form organizations. Could you please set your mind to apply this into school rules? This is to help you to have a better understanding of the matter below.
Recently, the Form 6 teachers from our schools namely Academicians, received nameless letters from the lower six students. The teachers were pissed off by this act and went to all lower six classes just to find out the culprit. And they came into our class. Below will be a translated version of what the teachers have said based on what I can recall.
"As you know, we have received two unnamed letters by the lower six students. Have you seen the letters? If not, let me read out some of the points to you. We, form 6 students, do not oblige to the change of teachers for our subjects. Reasons is that we will get very confused by the difference in teaching and may not be able to do well in our examinations. So, failing to note the class you're in, the teachers concerned, and the subjects, how are we teachers possibly going to solve the matter? We will take into consideration all of your suggestions, provided you notify us correctly, the legal way. I want to know who is the one who wrote these two letters. I'm not going to scold you, we just want to know who he or she is. Thats all. Please coorperate with us, if not, you will be called to gather at the meeting room after school today until the culprit admits his doing. "
Truthfully, upon hearing that, I was on my heat. I really had the mind to search the culprit and give him or her a trashing of my own, and then hand the culprit over to the teachers. I was very angry. But somehow or rather, I kept steady, and told myself to think rationally and straight. But being a very responding person, I was unable to keep steady at that moment. And I really have to thank a teacher for this, for she gave us a suggestion to write a letter to the teachers, clarifying our unguilt. On the spot, my mind cleared up, and I was the mastermind for a letter to the teachers. With the help and support from my fellow friends, we managed to come out with a beautiful letter, complete with pointed out facts, class, and personal signatures from all the members of our class. It was definitely, legal.
I'm not blaming the teachers for this. They have been acting extraordinarily, but it was for the better of us students. If they did not want to help us, they could easily ignore the letter and carry on with the change of schedule to their own liking. I respect my teachers based on this point-- Understanding.
Freedom Of Speech, yes it should be practiced.
Freedom of Speech, no, it shouldn't be practiced, illegally.
